Tutorial: How to highlight certain image

I found a pretty interesting thing on photoshop today which is the 'Channel Mixer'. It helps to highlight certain image which leave others to a single still color.

1. Fire your photoshop and open up a new image.

2. go to Layer->New Adjustment Layer->Channel Mixer and Click 'OK'

3.  Once you have clicked 'OK' you will see this, tick the Monochrome which will turn the image to black and white (you can don't tick this and play with the bar so that the image will have other color) and click 'OK'.

4. Make your foreground color to black and choose the brush tool. You can set your pixel of the brush tool so that it will highlight on a bigger area. I selected 68 pixel.

5. Now brush on the image space you wish it to be highlighted! viola~

You may not have the same tools as shown above. But i believe almost every version of photoshop has 'Channel Mixer'. This is the key to highlight your picture. The overall color of the image can be change using other methods than the one describe above.

Tutorial: How to draw a cloud

I am very tired over here but i will still place a simple tutorial to demonstrate a drawing of a cloud which can be use for many purposes.

1. Fire your photoshop and open a new board. Set the background color to black.

2. go to layer palette and right click on the 'background' image and duplicate a new layer.

3. Change your color to white and select the Ellipse tool. Start drawing random sized circles around each other to form a cartoon cloud shape.

Tutorial: How to create a curved border

Here is a simple photo tutorial on curving the border of a rectangular shape image.

1. Fire your photoshop and open a rectangle image such as  the example shown below

2. draw a rectangle, with the rounded rectangle tool. The rectangle will be place where the image shows

3. Double click on the layer with the rectangle and the layer style panel will prompt out. In the Advanced Blending area, slide the Fill Opacity percentage down to 0% and click 'OK'.

4. Back in the Layers palette, select the 'background' image(the dog) and right click it. Select duplicate layer and click 'OK'.

You should get a new layer of the image.

5. In the layer palette,  search for this camera look like icon, 'Add layer mask', and click on it. Be sure that the 'background copy' is selected and you will get the following display.

6. now turn off 'background' image visibility view to off. viola~

Tutorial: How to create a simple drop shadow effect

This tutorial will demonstrate how to add a simple drop shadow effect on the image.

1. Fire your photoshop and open up the image.

2. Minimize the image you just open and go to File->New.. as shown below

3. Drag the image to the new board you have created and it will appear as shown below

4. Go to layers pallet and look for 'Add a layer style' icon and click on drop shadow

Notice there is a lot of other style you can appear on the image but they will not be demonstrated on this tutorial.

5. Adjust the setting you prefer and click 'ok'.

Tutorial: How to remove background in an image using extract feature

This is another simple tutorial that demonstrate on how to remove the background of an image.

1. fire up your Photoshop and open up your image. I will use my fighter here as an example:

2. Ok! My fighter is summon out to my photoshop i will need to extract it out by opening up my extract tools, Filter->Extract

3.  Start highlighting the image you want or use  Smart Highlighting feature if you have shaky hand.

4. use the fill tools to specify which area you want and click ok.

5. You will see something like this which has a lot of missing details

6. Paint in missing drop outs using the History Brush Tool or use eraser to erase unwanted pixel as shown below
